Bournemouth have had a bid reportedly accepted for Villarreal attacker, and Aston Villa linked, Nicolas Jackson before the transfer deadline next Tuesday night. Bournemouth are desperate for reinforcements as they fight under Gary ONeil to preserve their Premier League status in the second half of the season.

Jackson has been linked withVilla, perhaps predictably after the appointment ofUnai Emerywho worked with him in Spain in the last 18 months or so. It appears as theres now a good chancethat the forward will end up in England - at Villa or elsewhere - this week.

Jackson was promoted into the Villarreal first team at the back end of the 2020-21 season, but it was last season when he became a more prominent figure in the squad and contributed to 16 goals - scoring seven of them - in 36 appearances in all competitions.

The 21-year-old, who hails from Senegal, has also previously been the interest of Everton - they were linked with a move for him in the summer transfer window - and Southampton have recently emerged as another potential destination in this window, but now its Bournemouth who would appear to be the front-runners if Jackson is to move this week having had the green light from Villarreal.

Emery, whose links to Jackson rose shortly after his appointment in place of predecessor Steven Gerrard, spoke of the youngster back in September of his ceiling and how he feels as though he has plenty more to come: He is a player who is in the process of growing. There are times when some players have to go elsewhere to grow, but we are betting on him because his contribution is very high.
